Julian Alaphilippe will see his contract with Soudal Quick-Step expire this year. The chance that the agreement with Patrick Lefevere will be extended is extremely small. However, the two-time world champion can count on the interest of several French teams.

For example, TotalEnergies and Cofidis are openly flirting with 31-year-old Alaphilippe. The Frenchman has been racing for Lefevere since 2014, but the relationship between the two gentlemen seems to have cooled. So it looks like Alaphilippe will have to look for a new employer next season.

Doubtful

One of the interested teams, Cofidis, now seems to be backing down somewhat. The French WorldTour formation, which is fighting against relegation in 2026, would only like to sign Alaphilippe if he can guarantee them UCI points.

“As team manager I would really like to work with him, but so far we haven’t really talked seriously,” said Cédric Vasseur at Global Cycling Network. “We don’t want to bring Alaphilippe in for the name alone.

“We want to bring Alaphilippe to Cofidis for what he can give to the team. At the moment he is having a hard time, so we will wait and see and of course we don’t want him to come to Cofidis to play hard.”

2000-2500 points

“If Julian comes to us, he will have to perform to bring us between 2,000 and 2,500 UCI points. I am not sure at the moment that he can do that. I don’t want to bring him in because I value and respect him” , the Cofidis team manager concluded.
