The Kempen native was also present at the wedding party of Yves Lampaert and Astrid Demeulemeester. This is evident from a photo that De Krant van West Flanders sent to the world, a photo with Van Aert and Lampaert’s sister, Saghine Lampaert, at the wedding party.
“It was a really successful evening,” Saghine responds. “We ate and drank well and danced a lot. The atmosphere was great. The party lasted until the early hours. It was already slowly getting ready when we finally crawled into bed,” she laughs.
Familiar faces
Naturally, many famous cyclists were present at the wedding party, mainly teammates or ex-teammates of Lampaert. Such as Tim Declercq, Niki Terpstra, Florian Sénéchal and Bert Van Lerberghe.
But also Van Aert. “Wout and Yves of course know each other from the race, but Astrid and Sarah, Wout’s wife, also get along very well. It was nice to have them there,” said Saghine. Striking: there is no mention of the presence of Remco Evenepoel or Patrick Lefevere.
