Matthias Ecke, a European parliamentarian from Germany, has been seriously injured after an attack by several men. Various media write this. At the time of the attack, he was campaigning for the elections.

Matthias Ecke is a candidate for the German Social Democrats (SPD). He was allegedly attacked by a group of men on Friday evening while he was putting up campaign posters in Dresden. According to the German newspaper Bild, three or four people suddenly appeared, shouted homophobic insults at the politicians and then attacked them.

Ecke was seriously injured and according to his party he will have to undergo surgery. “Violence and intimidation against democrats is the tool of fascists,” SPD responded to X.

According to the police, a 28-year-old man was previously attacked while he was hanging posters for the Green Party. The victim was slightly injured. The police assume that it concerns the same attackers.
