MUSICThe blue bird has not yet flown and Joost Klein goes from 100 to 0 at the end of his Eurovision act. This is evident from a video of the second rehearsal. At the emotional conclusion of ‘Europapa’, Klein is shown very closely as he addresses his deceased father.

New video footage of Klein’s rehearsal was leaked on Friday. It shows how the act ends. The emotional final piece, in which Klein addresses his deceased father, is delivered subtly. Klein stands in one spotlight and looks into the camera while speaking his subtitled text, allowing him to optimally convey the emotion. Right before that ‘outro’ there is still a lot of party on screen.

Since the first rehearsal on Tuesday, Joost Klein had to give up two places in the betting offices when it comes to the chance of victory next Saturday. The ‘blame’ for this was laid on the introduction of the large blue Pino bird, the disguise of vlogger Appie Mussa. There was immediate speculation among Eurovision fans: would the bird disappear from the act?

Not yet, but Klein doesn’t have to deliver his final performance for the first time until next week. A theory among the followers: the Finnish singer Käärijä, who finished second last year with ‘Cha cha cha’, would replace the blue bird on stage next week. The question is whether that is correct. It would suit Klein, who likes to surprise.

Kot kot

In addition, shortly before the Eurovision Song Contest, videos of Klein and Käärijä, who get along well, appeared on social media. In the theories, the blue bird is a reference to the single Kot Kot which Käärijä recently released, kot kot is in Finnish what tok tok is in our country: the sound of a chicken.

Klein now has to wait until Wednesday, when he will perform again for the first time. These are the first two rehearsals for the second semi-final. On Thursday he will perform ‘Europapa’ twice again; first in the dress rehearsal and finally in the semi-final on Thursday evening. If he continues, he will immediately have to work four times again on Friday and Saturday.
