“He now makes a folder with photos of all the people he likes, so he can remember their faces better.” Ten years ago, a wave of emotion rolled over the country when 5-year-old Thibaut Somei told this newspaper about his extremely rare eye condition that is slowly but surely making him blind. But although he had to put aside his dream of one day becoming a racing driver, the young man today radiates self-confidence in another sporting discipline. “A white stick? I definitely don’t feel good about that.” A conversation with an inspiring 16-year-old boy.
