The man was only released on parole after he caused a fatal accident last year. Under the influence of the zombie drug flakka, he killed cyclist Herman Tanghe (62) on the Esenweg near Diksmuide. The police judge sentenced him to the maximum sentence of five years in prison, half of which was suspended under conditions. He was given an effective driving ban, an absolute ban on alcohol and drugs and had to be admitted to a residential institution when he was released.
