The top two of each series qualified for the final and immediately secured participation in the Games in Paris. The rest of the countries will have rematches, in which six Olympic tickets can also be distributed. Both the final and the rematch are scheduled for Sunday (local time, night from Sunday to Monday in Belgium).

The Belgian relay team in the mixed 4×400 meters also qualified for the final and the corresponding ticket for the Games. Belgium took part in the third of four series. Jonathan Sacoor, Imke Vervaet, Christian Iguacel and Camille Laus ran 3:13.18, good for second place in their series, behind Ireland.

The Belgian record has stood at 3:11.51 since the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Dylan Borlée, Imke Vervaet, Camille Laus and Kevin Borlée then set the top time.

Belgian Rockets to second chances

The Belgian relay team in the women’s 4×100 meters could not qualify for the final and the corresponding ticket for the Games. The Belgian Rockets took part in the third of four series. Rani Vincke, Rani Rosius, Elise Mehuys and Delphine Nkansa ran 43.96, good for sixth place in their series, but an incorrect baton change afterwards led to a disqualification.

The Belgian record has stood at 42.54 since the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Olivia Borleé, Hanna Mariën, Elodie Ouedraogo and Kim Gevaert then set that top time, which earned them the gold medal after the disqualification of winner Russia many years later.

Belgian Falcons to second chances

Just like the Rockets, the Belgian Falcons (4×100 for men) were also unable to qualify for the final and the Games. The Falcons competed in the third of four series. Kobe Vleminckx, Ward Merckx, Antoine Snyders and Valentijn Hoornaert seemed to run to seventh place in their series with 39.82, but a little later they were disqualified due to an incorrect baton change.

The Belgian record has been 38.68 since last week and a meeting in Curaçao. Antoine Snyders, Ward Merckx, Simon Verherstraeten and Kobe Vleminckx then set that top time.

Without spearhead Cynthia Bolingo, who is struggling with an Achilles tendon injury, the Belgian relay team in the women’s 4×400 meters could not qualify for the final and the Games.

The Belgian Cheetahs took part in the fourth of four series. Naomi Van Den Broeck, Hanne Claes, Liefde Schoemaker and Helena Ponette ran 3:27.19, good for third place in their series.
