Ellie Bloom from Wilrijk, besides the stages she goes through life as Sandrine Le Clef, continues to grow in the music world. Eighteen months after her first EP, she launches two singles and the second EP is on its way. On Friday she will be in Hangar 27 in Edegem.

After many years of pursuing a career as a lawyer, Sandrine Le Clef decided to completely change her life path at the age of 39. She became a singer-songwriter and Ellie Bloom was with the release of the EP Me Voila born in 2022.

The upheaval was not unexpected for Ellie. “As a child I was already obsessed with music and sang the hits of Céline Dion and Toni Braxton into my first cassette recorder. I watched Michael Jackson and Mylène Farmer concerts on video and dreamed of a life on stage,” says Ellie Bloom.

But she was allowed to put her dream aside at the age of seventeen when her parents separated. She was suddenly on her own two feet and had to provide her own shelter and food. She became an acclaimed lawyer and built a beautiful family life.

However, the love for music did not disappear and during Covid the urge to make music and perform strongly increased. “I took singing lessons and started writing, about myself and things that concerned me.”

So came October 2022 Me Voila, a first EP with five songs, which opened beautiful doors. Yannic Fonderie, producer of Axelle Red, Clouseau and Natalia, among others, asked to join forces.

“It felt like we had known each other for years. We were also immediately on the same wavelength in the studio. We went to Paris together to write with other teams for a week. Every day we had a new song ready.”

The result is the second EP Entre 2 mondes with seven new songs that will be released in September. She describes the songs as refreshing, melodic electro-pop with a melancholic edge. Her French songs even took her to the stage of the Parisian concert hall Les Trois Baudets last month.

On Friday, May 3, Ellie Bloom will present the release show at 8 p.m Tu Planes in Hangar 27 in Edegem. After Tu te perds this is the second song from the EP she presents.
