The Circus Cup will take place in Liège on Sunday 2 June and the organizers managed to attract additional big names. Marouane Fellaini (36) will also play in the match that will be played on the field of Standard Liège, the team where he made his debut in the first team in 2006.

The former Red Devil will be part of the ‘red’ team led by ex-Dutch international Edgar Davids. He is joined by goalkeeper Dida, defenders Zaccardo, Stam and Clichy. In the striker role, Fellaini will be able to count on Louis Saha and Fernando Morientes. Gonzague Vandooren and Ali Lukunku are also part of the red selection, Daniël Van Buyten is also mentioned.

The opponents are led by Alessandro Del Piero, the legendary player of Juventus Turin. Del Piero selected Diego Lopez, Simic, Miranda, Hyppiä, Sorin, Tiago, Mendieta, Simao, Cissé and Saviola for his ‘black’ team. Gunther Schepens, Frédéric Dupré and Marcos Camazotta complete the selection.

The organizers – Standard football club and main sponsor Circus – expect twenty thousand spectators. The proceeds – tickets cost ten to fifteen euros – are donated to initiatives that want to bring citizens together around sporting events.

Marouane Fellaine ended a career in 2023 that took him from Standard to Everton, Manchester United and Chinese Shandong Luneng. The Brussels native of Moroccan origin also played 87 times for the Red Devils, for whom he scored eighteen goals.
