The information comes via an answer from Minister of the Interior Annelies Verlinden (CD&V) to a parliamentary question from MP Georges Dallemagne (Les Engagés).

This is the first time that the geographical distribution of the people included in the common database (GGB) has been reported. This list, managed by the Coordination Body for Threat Analysis (OCAD), brings together the people who pose the greatest threat to security.

On March 27, 656 people were on the list: 575 because they adhere to a jihadist Islamist ideology, 53 because of their support for extreme right-wing ideas, 16 because of their extreme left-wing ideas and 12 for other types of threats. Of the people on the list, 318 live in the Flemish region, 233 in the Brussels region and 98 in the Walloon region. It turned out not to be possible to determine a region for seven people.

According to Le Soir This geographical distribution of the most risky profiles that are followed as a priority by the security services explains why some local task forces are more overwhelmed by work than others. This problem came to the fore following the attack by Abdessalem Lassoued on October 16 in Brussels.
