Anyone who has to travel to and around Ghent by car can say that the spades are currently in the ground in many places in the Artevelde city, resulting in quite a few detours. And this apparently causes quite a bit of frustration for some drivers. A video sent to our editors shows how a lady on Bevrijdingslaan on Tuesday morning got so upset that she tried to drive past the roadworks. However, she hit the excavator bucket of the machine, causing the side of her Ford Ka to be severely damaged. Part of the body also came loose and was left on the street.

The woman was eventually able to continue driving, but will undoubtedly regret her driving behavior. The police are aware of the facts and have been able to track down the frustrated driver. “Our people have made the necessary observations, an official report has been drawn up and the public prosecutor’s office has been informed. The driver’s license of the lady in question will be revoked,” said Matto Langeraert of the Ghent police. The lady will undoubtedly soon have to answer for herself in the police court. In addition to the costs of her car, she can also expect a hefty fine.
