A massacre near the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil, in the southwestern part of the country, has left seven people dead, including two minors. The police announced this on Saturday. The region is the epicenter of crime in the country.

The seven bodies with bullet wounds were found in Nobol, about forty kilometers from Guayaquil. The victims are all men. Two of them had a criminal record.

The massacre is an act of revenge, the local press writes based on police sources. It occurred on the night from Friday to Saturday. It took law enforcement several hours to locate all the bodies.

The South American country is increasingly experiencing murders. In 2018 there were 6 murders per 100,000 inhabitants, last year there were 43. This has everything to do with the increasing importance of the country in the trafficking of drugs, from neighboring countries Colombia and Peru, to the United States and Europe.
