The health of Brussels residents has taken a positive turn in recent years. Life expectancy has increased and there are fewer deaths from cancer. However, health improvements are not equally distributed across the population, and environmental pollution still has a significant impact. This is evident from the recently published Brussels Health Indicators 2024, carried out by the Vivalis Observatory for Health and Welfare. “Air pollution causes 930 premature deaths in Brussels every year, and disadvantaged people suffer as a result.”
