The son of Kim Kay (20) was sentenced by the Ghent court on Friday to two years in prison for drug trafficking from his grandparents’ house in Ghent. After two convictions last year in drug cases, he immediately started again after his release.

JK is the son of singer Kim Kay, the singer who scored in the 90s with the hit Lilali. Due to illness, she has been confined to her bed for ten years. In our newspaper she previously testified how powerless she felt with a son who was on the wrong path and was heavily addicted to drugs.

Together with five others, K. stood before the judge in Ghent on Monday for possession and sale of cannabis, cocaine and mephedrone. “Street dealers who continue to do business,” said the public prosecutor’s office. In May, the police raided K.’s grandparents’ home in Ghent, from where he was dealing, with extensive resources.

He tried to flee and threw hundreds of grams of cannabis and some cocaine through the window. During his flight he got stuck in a tree and was arrested. They found a machete at his home and K. has been in custody in prison since the facts.

It was striking that K. had just been released in March after a second conviction for his role in a drug case. He ran a heavy trade at Dampoort. Due to his young age and insight into his guilt, the judges then gave him a suspended sentence, but K. immediately started again.

Due to his hard-nosed attitude, K. was sentenced by the Ghent court on Friday to two years in prison and an 8,000 euro fine. The other suspects were given sentences of between 30 and 20 months in prison or a suspended prison sentence or community service.
