Dozens of tornadoes hit the US: buildings destroyed, pipes burst and wagons derailed | Abroad

The central part of the United States has suffered dozens of large tornadoes. There was serious damage and according to emergency services at least three people were injured.

According to the American meteorological service NWS, more than 70 tornadoes were registered yesterday, mainly in the region around Omaha (the largest city in the state of Nebraska, right on the border with Iowa; ed.). Images of ‘storm chasers’ showing large tornadoes are circulating on social media. Dozens of buildings were destroyed, electrical lines snapped and wagons derailed.

Wounded in warehouse

Further south, near the city of Lincoln, a tornado struck a warehouse where about 70 employees were present. The building collapsed. Three people were injured, but their injuries are not in danger.

The National Weather Service had issued a raft of tornado warnings in the central US states on Friday. The weather phenomenon would continue to occur today, as far away as Texas. Tornadoes are relatively common in the US, especially in the center and south of the country.
