Police discover cargo of coke with a street value of more than 2 million euros in a Colombian coal ship | Ghent

The first ship on which drugs were found arrived on March 21. The Federal Judicial Police, Shipping Police and Customs found 2 bags containing 40 kilograms of cocaine in a load of coal, worth a street value of 1.4 million euros.

The second coal ship arrived on March 26. The police and Customs checked the ship and found a backpack that was attached to the wall with a magnet in a hold. This backpack contained approximately 25 kg of cocaine.

The drug mafia continues to look for alternative or additional ways to smuggle drugs into Europe. The police and public prosecutor’s office ask that suspicious actions or information about criminal activities in North Sea Port Ghent be reported.
