NINOVE – The Roads and Traffic Agency (AWV) is working on the Den Doorn N405/N28 intersection this summer. First, utility works will take place from April 15.

De Watergroep, Fluvius, Proximus, Wyre and Fiberklare are installing new pipes and networks and connecting them to the existing network.

These preparatory works will start on Monday April 15 and will last until the end of June 2024. Work will be carried out in two phases, both of which will last approximately 5 weeks. Road diversions are always planned.

Phase 1: from April 15 to May 17

  • Pedestrians can pass through the construction zone on the Ninove center side, the south side of the intersection.
  • Cyclists coming from the center of Ninove towards the Den Doorn intersection will not experience any inconvenience.
  • Cyclists coming from the Den Doorn intersection towards Ninove center follow a diversion via the Doornweg and Vinkenstraat.
  • The bus towards Ninove center will detour from the Okegembaan via the Ring-Oost and Fernand Tavernestraat to the station.
  • The Aalstersesteenweg (N405) will become one-way from the Groeneweg to the Den Doorn intersection.
    – Motorized traffic heading to the intersection can therefore pass through the construction zone.
    – Traffic towards Ninove center follows a diversion via the N28 and N8.

Phase 2: from May 21 to the end of June

  • During the construction of the pipes, the parking lane and cycle path will be occupied on the north side; on the south side this is done with the verge and the cycle path.
  • Pedestrians can always pass through the construction zone.
  • Cyclists follow a diversion in both directions via the Doorn Noord business park and the field road next to the N28.
  • De Lijn buses can pass through the construction zone.
  • The street side towards Denderleeuw will be closed by open trench works. Motorized traffic towards Denderleeuw follows a diversion via the N28/N45, the Churchillsteenweg, the Industrielaan and the N405.
  • The Ring-Oost and the Okegembaan remain accessible in both directions from the Den Doorn intersection.

The actual reconstruction of the Den Doorn intersection will start after the construction holiday in August 2024. More information about this will follow as soon as possible.
