The local police have dealt a major blow to an alleged drug gang after searches at seventeen locations in Antwerp and the surrounding area. Ten suspects have been arrested, five cars and thirteen kilograms of hashish have been seized. A beauty salon on Plantin and Moretuslei has also been sealed. Its owner, former kickboxing champion Morad S. (36), is anything but unknown in the drug world.

The investigation, which initially focused on cocaine trafficking, revealed suspected shipments of hashish to France. “A car was intercepted in Liège, with drugs hidden in a secret room,” says spokesperson Wouter Bruyns of the Antwerp police zone.
After thorough investigation, seventeen locations in Antwerp and surrounding municipalities were targeted for house searches. “Ten people were arrested and brought before the investigating judge,” says Bruyns. “Five vehicles, thirteen kilograms of hashish, 7,000 euros in cash and a Rolex watch were seized during the operation.”

It is striking that a beauty salon on the Plantin en Moretuslei in Borgerhout, partly owned by former kickboxing champion Morad S., was sealed during the operation. S. was previously sentenced to prison for cocaine trafficking. In January 2019 he was shot during a suspected ripping deal. According to our information, both S. and his partner, co-owner of the salon, were arrested by the investigating judge, together with four other suspects.
