The British royal family will open Balmoral Castle to the public for the first time from May. A guided tour costs 117 euros. Who else there? afternoon tea If you want, you have to pay 175 euros.

From May 4 to August 11, the British royal family will open some rooms of Balmoral Castle to the public for the first time. The castle, located in Aberdeen in the Scottish Highlands, was opened in 1855 and is now the country retreat of King Charles and his wife Camilla, and of Crown Prince William and Princess Catherine. Queen Elizabeth also often spent the summer there and died there in 2022.

During the guided tour, visitors can visit the two dining rooms and the Drawing Room, where one of the last photographs of Queen Elizabeth was taken two days before her death. The tours end on August 11, because Charles and Camilla are coming to spend their summer holidays there.

The tour costs 100 British pounds or 117 euros. Whoever there afternoon tea if you want, pay 175 euros. There are forty tickets available per day, and the tours take place in groups of ten. The Balmoral Castle website states that the guide will take you “on a historic journey through beautiful rooms” in the castle. “Travel through time – from the purchase of Balmoral Castle by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, to the present.”
