She is 26, Laura Hebbelinck, and has recently become the proud mother of César. But in addition to being a mother, she is also a wife, partner and ‘just’ Laura. Together with LolaLiza, Billie opts for a fresh ‘mom-proof’ look.

When Laura walks into the LolaLiza store in Lochristi, we immediately notice one thing: she is not alone. César, her son who is now three months old, is also there. She immediately apologizes for being ten minutes late, César was hungry and that has an impact on mother Laura’s agenda.

“I’m a new mom, my son was born on January 29, and I find it harder to dress myself now. My body has of course changed, it has only been three months since I gave birth, but I have now also taken on another new role: I am a mom. That doesn’t mean that I necessarily have to dress differently, but you do have to take it into account. If my son starts crawling or walking and I have to bend down quickly, a short skirt or dress is not the ideal choice. I wouldn’t be comfortable.”

“I wanted to feel like a woman again, for my partner but especially for myself”

But that’s not her only role. “Before my pregnancy I liked to wear long dresses in the summer, then came maternity clothes and after the birth it was a period full of sweatpants and baby vomit. So it was time for a breath of fresh air in my wardrobe. I wanted to feel like a woman again, for my partner, but especially for myself. I think it’s important to look good. Clothing plays an important role in this. ”

Clothing that is fashionable but also comfortable. “Preferably a complete outfit that I can put on and step out the door five minutes later. Getting ready for two hours before I have to go somewhere is not my style. A little mascara, a touch of make-up and a complete outfit: then I am mom, wife, partner and Laura at the same time.”

Tips from our fashion editor Lien Lammens

* 3-in-1 “Laura wants an outfit that she can use to get out of the house quickly. Then it is useful to choose a basic outfit and pimp it with accessories and shoes. Choose sneakers or sandals depending on the occasion. Earrings or a striking bracelet complete the look.”

* Not just for models “’Satin looks’ dominate the street scene. These fabrics have a bad reputation for showing every feminine shape. Choose a satin (look) with a print, which distracts the eye from any imperfections. Or go for oversized blouses for a festive touch.”

* Midi “Comfortable, concealing and yet sexy: that is the midi skirt, which reaches approximately halfway down the calf. This reveals the ankle and part of the leg but that’s where it stops. In other words: a glimpse of the veil is lifted without it becoming embarrassing if you have to go after your son or daughter.”

* In the pants “Wearing your blouse in or over your jeans makes a world of difference. If you tuck them halfway into the pants, with the front tucked in and the back hanging loosely over the pants, you get a stylish look. Small effort, big effect. Ellen Callebout, Gert Verhulst’s wife, knows how to do it better than anyone.”

* Gold “It deters quite a few women from choosing the color gold on an average day and that is a shame. Gold suits many women. If you are afraid it will be too festive, combine with casual fabrics and pieces such as denim or a bomber jacket.”
