HashiCorp provides various tools for cloud infrastructure and security, including Terraform. With this tool, organizations can automatically set up and manage cloud, private data center and SaaS infrastructures. The company has approximately 4,400 customers, including major companies such as GitHub, Vodafone and Starbucks.

IBM sees HashiCorp as a good addition to its hybrid strategy, according to the announcement of the acquisition. According to IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, HashiCorp supports its customers particularly well in managing today’s complex infrastructure and proliferation of applications. “Combining IBM’s portfolio and expertise with HashiCorp’s capabilities and talent creates a comprehensive hybrid cloud platform designed for the AI ​​era.”

HashiCorp shareholders and regulators must still approve the acquisition. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
