HALSTEREN – The 35th yearbook was presented in a packed Hof van Ram, home of Heemkundekring Halchterth, on Thursday evening, March 21. The book “Alles is BLADVULLING” was written and compiled by Frans Nefs, in collaboration with the editorial working group of the local history society.
Pouw Jongbloed checked the book for spelling and text errors. Chairman Anton van Oost welcomed everyone, especially Frans Nefs and his family. He then gave the floor to Frans Nefs who explained what is involved in getting such a book made. Frans wanted the first book to be presented to his son because he was more or less responsible for the book’s creation. So it happened. Anton van Oost presented the first book to Frans’ son.
This was followed by a kind of picture quiz that Frans had put together. You heard people racking their brains left and right to find the solution. The winner of this quiz was Adrie Jonkers who, as far as is unknown, is the writer of the weekly column De Bezemwagen in De Halsterse Krant & De Zuidwestkrant.
The evening continued after the break with a trio consisting of an accordionist, Frans Nefs and Ko Nefs. Various fun and enjoyable Halsterse songs were sung in the Halsterse dialect. The songs turned out to be well received. Especially with the closing song ‘Altere, I love you’, everyone in the hall sang along at the top of their lungs. In short: a fun but above all enjoyable book presentation.
