No fewer than 35 house searches took place in the Schaarbeek Navez district last week in the fight against local drug trafficking. Eighteen suspects were arrested, twelve of whom were arrested. During the searches, the officers seized more than 120,000 euros in cash, 2.2 kilograms of cannabis and nine weapons.
The area around Navezstraat has been a thorn in the side of the police services for some time. There is a lot of drug trafficking and that problem appears to be difficult to solve. Two years ago, in February 2022, a large-scale operation took place with seventeen searches and fifteen arrests. Large quantities of drugs and cash were also found. The raid in Navezwijk led to several convictions.
However, it turned out that the drug trade had not been seized by the roots, because the trade was soon restarted. In recent months, police have repeatedly seized narcotics hidden in and around Navez Street. The Centralized Judicial Brigade continued the investigation to identify the main perpetrators of drug trafficking on this street.

This week’s promotion is a follow-up to this. On Monday, more than twenty house searches were carried out against suspected drug trafficking organizers, during which one hundred and fifty police officers were mobilized. A commercial case was judicially sealed.
Another fifteen searches followed in the following two days. Eighteen suspects were made available to the investigating judge, and they were charged with possession and sale of narcotics in association and with membership of a criminal organization. Of those eighteen, twelve suspects were placed under arrest. Five others were released on conditions, and a final suspect was released after interrogation.
During the searches, officers also seized more than 1,250 ecstasy pills, 10 grams of cocaine, 36 mobile phones and two PCs and more than a hundred luxury watches. Three motorcycles and two cars were also judicially towed.
