Ukraine has again carried out several drone attacks in Russia. Several fires broke out at an energy site in the Smolensk region, in western Russia. Vasily Anokhin, the governor of the region, reported this on Telegram. According to him, Ukraine deliberately targeted fuel and energy supplies.

“Our region is again under attack by Ukrainian UAVs,” Vasily Anokhin reported on Telegram, according to Reuters. During the night from Friday to Saturday, Ukraine also launched several drones on Russian territory. “As a result of the enemy attack on civilian fuel and energy supplies, fires broke out in the Smolensk and Yartsevo districts.” It was not immediately known which facility was on fire. There are no major oil refineries in the Smolensk region.

Governor Igor Artamonov also reports drone attacks on an industrial area in the neighboring Lipetsk region in southwestern Russia. No injuries were reported, but local residents were evacuated as a precaution. “The object was isolated, there was no threat of attack on residential areas,” Artamonov said. “It was decided not to activate the warning systems in the city and to evacuate only the area where the UAV fell.” He did not specify whether there was any damage or what the target was. Reuters news agency could not yet independently verify the reports.

Ukraine did not immediately comment on the attacks. Kiev rarely comments on attacks in Russia, but Ukrainian officials have previously said that destroying critical energy, military and transportation infrastructure undermines Moscow.
