The updated HBO Max will be launched on June 11 with a new app and various subscriptions, including a subscription including advertising. We now know what the new prices are and what happens to your lifetime discount.
Warner Bros. Discovery announced in March that the HBO Max streaming service would be completely renewed in June with new subscriptions, but now the prices are finally known. You can choose from three different subscriptions plus a sports package.
The cheapest Basic subscription costs 5.99 euros per month. This allows you to watch everything in Full HD resolution, on up to two devices at the same time and with commercials. The more expensive Standard subscription costs 9.99 euros per month, which allows you to stream without advertising. With this subscription you can also download up to thirty films or episodes to watch offline.
Premium and sports
The Premium subscription is the most expensive. For 13.99 euros per month you can stream in 4K, including Dolby Atmos sound. You can also watch on four devices simultaneously and do up to a hundred downloads.
As an extra, it is possible to add a ‘Sport add-on’ to one of the three subscription types. For an extra 5 euros per month you get coverage of live sporting events, such as the Grand Slam, UFC, cycling rounds and more.
New app and lifetime discount
A new app will also be launched on June 11. While the current HBO Max app has a purple icon, the new HBO Max app will be blue. Billing and login information will remain the same, and your profiles, watch history, and watch list will also be transferred.
First-time subscribers who have received a lifetime discount will continue to pay 3.99 euros per month until it is time to renew the subscription. They will then switch to the new Standard subscription (without 4K). Normally this subscription costs 9.99 euros, but with a lifetime discount it costs 4.99 euros per month. HBO Max wrote in an email to its customers: “The new price for the Standard plan is higher than your current monthly price due to significant improvements in the offerings and features of our updated service.”
