The nerves in Malmö, Sweden, where the Eurovision Song Contest starts tomorrow, are tense. The threats seem to come from all sides: from Quran burnings, anti-Israel protests and Russian sabotage to fears of terrorism. The security measures are the strictest in the country’s history, from snipers on the roofs to metal detectors and helicopters all over the city. “You feel everything: if Israel advances to the final on Thursday, riots will break out,” Flemish fans say on the spot.
