BNNVARA has the registration for a new bartender on Sunday evening First Dates discontinued. From the 1,441 candidates who registered within a week, the producer of the popular dating program chooses a successor to Victor Abeln.

The large number of candidates who registered immediately exceeded all BNNVARA expectations. On Sunday evening, the broadcaster therefore decided to stop registration early, a spokesperson told it ANP.

From the 1,441 people who registered within a week, the broadcaster will now choose a successor to Abeln, who will travel around the world. About three quarters of the applicants are men, one quarter are women. About half a percent of potential new Victors identify themselves as gender neutral.

The candidates come from all over the country. But the majority come from the four major cities, with Amsterdam undisputedly in first place. Furthermore, many candidates come from Eindhoven, Alkmaar, Nijmegen, Tilburg, Haarlem and Leeuwarden.

BNNVARA will now see which of the applicants is the perfect new Victor. The broadcaster hopes to be able to say more about the procedure in the short term.

Abeln will be behind the bar for one more series in the 2024-2025 season First Datesrestaurant stand. He has appeared in more than eight hundred episodes over the past eight years and attracted more than four thousand couples to his bar.
