After 110 races and fifteen podiums, Lando Norris (McLaren) has won his first Grand Prix of his career in Miami. The Briton took over the lead from world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) halfway through the race and never relinquished it. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) completed the podium.

After a start without any debris, Max Verstappen seemed to be driving to another victory without any problems, until the safety car appeared on the track halfway through the race. Kevin Magnussen (Haas) and Logan Sargeant (Williams) made contact with each other and the Williams driver was unable to continue his way.

Max Verstappen had already made his pit stop in front of the safety car, because the world champion hit a post in turn fifteen and slightly damaged his front wing. Lando Norris was able to make a pit stop under the safety car and was first on track for the restart.

Verstappen could not keep up with Norris’s pace and had to settle for second place. Lando Norris finished the race clear and won his first Grand Prix of his career. The Briton loses his painful record of fifteen podiums without a victory.

Charles Leclerc won the battle for third place, ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz. Sergio Perez (Red Bull Racing) did not get further than fifth place. Max Verstappen remains in the lead in the World Cup rankings. The next match is in Imola in two weeks.
