The Flemish Brabant West fire zone has been deployed to an industrial fire in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. The fire rages in a warehouse in the Jan-Baptist Wautersstraat. One person who inhaled too much smoke was taken away. The municipal phase of the disaster plan is announced.

The fire started in a company that dismantles cars. During grinding work something went wrong with fuel still in the tank. All those present left the building after an extinguishing attempt. The manager was taken to hospital because he inhaled too much smoke.

Adjacent is a rag warehouse. That part of the warehouse has collapsed.

A third company has been spared for the time being.

The fire brigade is currently trying to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings. The Flemish Brabant West fire brigade zone is assisted by the Brussels zone.

Local residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed and to switch off ventilation systems. The municipal phase of the disaster plan is announced. (tvp, blg)
