VIDEO. “There’s not much to see”: Wilson faces Jones in the World Snooker World Cup final after victory against Brecel killer Gilbert, who provides a funny moment with his pants open

During the semi-finals of the Snooker World Championship, David Gilbert made the many fans laugh on Friday evening. The 42-year-old Briton had a vestment problem: the zipper of his pants was open. Gilbert, who had defeated world champion Luca Brecel in the opening round, pulled up the belt again and said: “There’s not much to see!”

Gilbert ultimately lost the fight 17-11 against his compatriot Kyren Wilson, while Welsh outsider Jack Jones also managed to qualify for the final of the Snooker World Championship. In the semi-finals, Jones defeated Englishman Stuart Bingham 17-12.

After sharing frames in the first two sessions, 30-year-old Jones (WS 44) won the third session 5-2 with breaks of 53, 54 and 63 for a 13-10 lead. Bingham (WS 29), who won the world title in 2015, made too many mistakes that Jones, who had never been in the final of a ranking tournament, took advantage of and achieved a deserved 17-12 victory with breaks of 65, 70 and 65.

In the semi-final between David Gilbert (WS 31) and Kyren Wilson (WS 12), who played the final in 2020 and lost 18-8 to Ronnie O’Sullivan, the score was 8-8 after two sessions. In the third session Wilson opened a gap. With breaks of 85, 93, 51 and 88 he won the session 6-2 and took a 14-10 lead. In the fourth session, Gilbert took frame 25, but Wilson managed breaks of 54 and 67 for a 17-11 victory.

The final is played to a best of 35 frames.
