The Bruges derby again ended in a draw. Cercle Brugge scored before half-time, Club equalized in the second half. Club in particular is disappointed again.

For the third time this season, a Bruges derby was on the program. At Club Brugge this was the first time with Nicky Hayen as trainer. He put Skov Olsen and De Cuyper on the bench.

The change of coach did not result in any improvement for Club in the first half. Cercle did what it always did and immediately pushed Club back. With four or five people it always put pressure on the ball.

Denkey initially missed a great opportunity, but moments later he scored. He tapped in Utkus’ failed shot on a free kick. Club did have chances, but Nusa bumped into Warleson.

It happened just before half time. Nusa scored the equalizer, but Thiago put it offside before the end. The Brazilian did that more often in the first half. So Cercle went into halftime 1-0.

Club dominates the second half, but does not win

In the second half Club was a lot better than Cercle, but they were unable to score. Nusa in particular missed some opportunities. Things didn’t go well for Club either, as Vanaken hit a free kick hard onto the crossbar beyond Warleson’s reach.

Five minutes before the end it was the prize. Skov Olsen was found in the box by Jutgla, the Dane put the ball in the far corner. Nielsen was offside in the path of the ball, but the goal counted.

Club then looked for the winning goal, but Nielsen could not get past Warleson. The Bruges derby ends in a draw for the third time this season, with neither team making much progress with a point.
