Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only DLC for Elden Ring. This is what FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki says. According to the designer, the expansion consists of content that initially proved too large for the base game. Miyazaki also says that the DLC has no influence on the original story.
Miyazaki says in an interview with the Chinese medium Campfire that Shadow of the Erdtree ‘is the first and only DLC’ for Elden Ring. Since the DLC has been in development for over two years, it was already unlikely that there would be a second version, but this is the first time Miyazaki has confirmed that.
According to the game designer, it is also better to make just one DLC. “Elden Ring is about discovery and adventures in a big world. To make such an experience possible you need a huge, sprawling world. So instead of splitting it into several parts, it’s better to make just one world .”
Miyazaki further confirms that there are multiple possible endings to the DLC, based on the player’s choices. Those endings do not affect the basic version of the game, the creator says. Shadow of the Erdtree is a standalone story. Miyazaki says that in addition to Miquella, St. Trina will also make an appearance as an NPC in the DLC.
The first trailer of the long-awaited DLC was released in February this year. Then FromSoftware also announced that Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on June 21.
