Yesterday it was leaked via Het Nieuwsblad that KAA Gent would like to see Wouter Vrancken at the helm for next season. However, that will be quite an assignment given his contract and… the possible sporting denouement of the competition.
Vrancken has exchanged his indefinite contract for one until 2026. That contract also includes a substantial severance payment. That could turn out to be expensive for Ghent.
Unless the two parties part ways by mutual agreement or if Vrancken is fired. It had also already been leaked that the Genk board would soon want another trainer. But what if they now see him leave for the competition? Will they still be so inclined to cooperate?
In addition, there is also the sporting denouement of the championship. Ghent won the Europe Play-offs and will soon play a jump-off match for the last European ticket against the number four or five of the Champions’ Play-offs.
