Cameron Puertas is one of the trendsetters of our competition. A summer departure seems inevitable. But who knows, he might still play in Belgium next season.

Franky Van der Elst made a remarkable suggestion last week by stating that a team like Club Brugge should seriously consider going for Cameron Puertas. His value is currently estimated at eleven million euros according to Transfermarkt.

The Swiss has shown impressive statistics and therefore seems, on an emotional level, to be worth much more. The question remains, however, whether Union SG will let him go to a major competitor in his own country for a sum of eleven million euros.

“Puertas is certainly a competitor for Vanaken for the Golden Boot if he were to stay in Belgium after the summer,” said Frank Boeckx in the 90minutes podcast. To which Maarten Breckx said: “Unless he goes to Club Brugge, of course. That is also suggested here and there.” Puertas’ contract expires in June 2025, so if Union SG wants to make any money from the 25-year-old playmaker, it must take action this summer.
