Last Sunday, Jan Vertonghen was injured at Anderlecht during the match against Union. Further research must now show how serious the injury is.

Anderlecht drew 0-0 against Union SG last weekend. Not a good thing in the title fight for either team. In addition, the Purple & White also lost its captain.

Vertonghen went after Amoura, but felt something in the groin and he could no longer continue. At Extra Time there was a lot of talk about Vertonghen’s injury.

“Was he thinking about his future at that moment?” says Filip Joos, according to Sporza. “After all, what he will do after the European Championship has not yet been decided.”

“It seemed as if he thought: you know what, one more European Championship and we’ll call it a day. But that may just be a snapshot,” Peter Vandenbempt adds. Wesley Sonck provides some reassurance. “It wasn’t a full sprint, so I think it won’t be too bad.”

Franky Van der Elst saw that the Red Devil was not completely comfortable with it. “Because it didn’t look really good. You could see the concern on his face.”
