“That transfer is being suggested here and there”: Club Brugge gets hold of strongman … Union SG? – Football news

--

Club Brugge is suddenly in the lead in the Champions’ Play-off with three match days to go. And so Hans Vanaken – who has been acting at a consistent level for years – is suddenly once again a favorite for the Golden Shoe. Puertas is a challenger, but where will he play after the summer?

Franky Van der Elst sounded the alarm last week and suggested that a team like Club Brugge should go all out for Cameron Puertas. According to Transfermarkt, it currently has a value of eleven million euros.

The Swiss presents great statistics and therefore appears to be worth much more, at least emotionally. Will Union SG let him go to a major competitor in his own country for eleven million euros? That’s another question again.

But still: in the corridors the rumor seems to be gradually getting some oxygen. And that could create an extremely strong tandem with Hans Vanaken, who is once again performing at a consistently high level this season.

Cameron Puertas ends contract in June 2025

“Whether there will be a third Golden Shoe for Vanaken? Well…” said Marc Degryse in the podcast four-zero. “But Puertas is certainly a competitor if he were to stay in Belgium after the summer,” Frank Boeckx added. “But he will probably leave this summer.”

To which Maarten Breckx stated: “Unless he goes to Club Brugge, of course. That is also suggested here and there.” Puertas’s contract expires in June 2025, so if Union wants to pass the checkout, it will have to take action for the 25-year-old playmaker this summer.
