Very young ‘daughter of’ records first victory at professional level and explains it afterwards

--

19-year-old Mirre Knaven has managed to book her first victory of her career. The daughter of former professional cyclist Servais Knaven was the best in the sprint of the second stage in the Gracia Orlova, a stage race in the Czech Republic.

Mirre Knaven is not the only daughter of Servais Knaven who is currently or has raced in the past. But at the age of nineteen, the young Knaven already took her first victory with a ride in the Gracia Orlova.

In a hilly stage she rode away with a group of thirteen, and Knaven was unmatched in the sprint. Afterwards, the young rider from AG Insurance – Soudal was over the moon with her victory.

“The race started a bit nervous for me, I wasn’t sure how I would do on the longer climbs,” said Knaven on the website of her team AG Insurance – Soudal. The rider clearly had a good day in the Czech Republic.

Good feeling about Knaven

“But I soon noticed that I felt really good. I felt very strong throughout the race and was very confident that I could win the final sprint. I am really happy with this win, it is also my first real road victory.”

“We rode really well as a team and that was rewarded in the end,” Knaven said about her victory in Lichnov. On Saturday she also finished second in a group sprint, which is also her current position in the rankings.
