The Algemeen Dagblad reported on Friday evening that Feyenoord and Liverpool have reached an informal agreement on the transfer of coach Arne Slot. Ruben Peeters, a physical coach and former Genk employee, is also expected to move to Anfield.

Slot will most likely be Jurgen Klopp’s successor at the English club. The two clubs have had constructive discussions about the trainer in recent days.

Slot has been head coach of Feyenoord since the summer of 2021, after coming over from AZ. Under his leadership, Feyenoord reached the final of the Conference League in his first season and became national champions last season.

This month they added the KNVB Cup to their trophy cabinet. Feyenoord is currently in second place in the Eredivisie.

Slot also hopes to bring some members of his current staff at Feyenoord to Liverpool. In addition to assistant Sipke Hulshoff, he would also like to give his Belgian physical coach Ruben Peeters the opportunity to come along. Peeters has been working at Feyenoord since 2021, where he is official head of performance training.

Previously, our compatriot, who obtained a master’s degree in physical education and movement sciences from KU Leuven, with a specialization in football training and coaching, worked at Racing Genk. First in the youth academy and later as a physical trainer of the first team.

Liverpool also currently employs a Belgian osteopath, Frigyes Vanden Auweele.
