RSC Anderlecht managed to maintain its leading position on Wednesday evening with a 3-0 win against Cercle Brugge. Nevertheless, the atmosphere afterwards was quite depressed. During the match a fan became unwell in the stands. The person in question subsequently died in hospital.

Despite a poor start to the match, Anderlecht managed to beat Groen-Zwart for the third time this season. Théo Leoni was able to give the Brussels team the lead after half an hour of play. The people of Bruges then decided to lend a helping hand.

For example, Leonardo Lopes Da Silva clumsily handed the ball in to Anders Dreyer’s 2-0. And with Leoni’s 3-0, it was Warleson who made the mistake again. With this smooth victory, Anderlecht will also end the first round of the Champions’ Play-Offs as leader.

Doom in the stands

Nevertheless, there was no exuberant atmosphere after the match. This was partly due to the injuries at RSCA. Dreyer and Kasper Schmeichel were forced to be substituted. However, the people of Brussels hope to recover their two strongholds as quickly as possible.

But what had happened in the stands was a real drama. After all, a supporter had become unwell in the main stand. Part of the stands was also temporarily closed so that the medical services could do their work undisturbed. The fan in question was taken to hospital, but all help came too late.

Affected Riemer

Coach Brian Riemer announced the news himself in his obligatory interview with rights holder Eleven Sports/DAZN. “A fan of ours died tonight after becoming unwell in the first half. The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family. On an evening like this, football is irrelevant,” said the devastated Dane. Reporter Dave Peters therefore decided to end the interview early after this sad news.
