KV Mechelen just missed out on PO 1 and therefore has to compete in the Europe Play-offs. The Kakkers start against OHL, the team against which they lost on the last matchday. Besnik Hasi looked ahead to his press chat and also talked about his future.

Hasi put KVM on track and hasn’t looked back since. The Maneblussers started their journey up the rankings and seemed to be on their way to PO 1, but were stranded with the finish in sight. However, Hasi did an excellent job and that reportedly earned him interest from AA Gent, which is more than likely saying goodbye to Hein Vanhaezebrouck. Will he still be at the helm of KVM next season?

Hasi sees a future at KVM

Hasi himself already seems to be looking to the future, and that apparently lies with KVM. “I would like to keep up with this team,” Hasi said on Friday. “And then add something to it left or right. I also think… When Mechelen was at the bottom, it was not as bad as everyone thought. And now it is not as good as everyone thinks. So there is some work to be done.”

“If it depends on me, we will continue to play in the same system next season,” he added. “At the moment, what happens to me is not important. The team must gain continuity, become even better in all facets of the game. I am preparing for what is to come, as I would continue next season, whatever the outcome.”

Conversations between Hasi and KVM

The last news is aware that discussions about a contract extension have now started. Hasi signed an agreement in November until the end of this season, but the Mechelen board seems to want to extend that.

In the meantime, a lot is moving at the core. It is not certain whether the hired Elias Cobbaut will remain on board for longer. In short: there is a lot of work to be done behind the Barracks.
