The incident happened at 1.28 pm at the bridge near Jules de Trooz, on the border of Schaarbeek and Laeken. There, a minibus from the Brussels Capital Ixelles police zone, which was driving on Koninginnelaan in the direction of Laeken, collided with a Peugeot that was driving from Werkhuizenkaai in the direction of the center.

“A total of fourteen occupants of the minibus were taken to hospital with minor injuries. These are aspiring inspectors who were on their way to the police station on E. Bockstaellaan. They were doing a tour of the various services of our police zone as part of an introductory day with the zone,” says Commissioner Ilse van de Keere, spokeswoman for the Brussels CAPITAL Ixelles police zone. “The two occupants of the car were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, their lives are not in danger.”

It is not clear exactly how the accident could have happened. The local police, Brussels-North zone, are on site to investigate the accident, while the victim support service is also present to provide support to those involved.
