Last week, Red Bull Racing announced that Adrian Newey will leave the team after this year. It is not yet clear where his future lies, but there are several teams with interest. Helmut Marko doesn’t know yet either, but he does have a suspicion.
Newey has long been associated with a departure from Red Bull. The British top designer is seen as one of the best people in his field, so it is not surprising that many teams are interested in his services. It appears Aston Martin has made him an offer, Ferrari is mentioned in the Italian media as a possibility and in Miami Williams team boss James Vowles said he had spoken to Newey.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is obviously disappointed with Newey’s departure. The Austrian does not fear for the future of Red Bull, and he also does not fully know where Newey’s future lies. Marko dares to take a gamble and in conversation with Total-Motorsport he seems to hint at Aston Martin: “What color do I see Newey walking around in in the future? I think red clashes a bit with dark blue. But I think there are some anything is possible with a great color like green.”
