My interview with Harry Potter actor Tom Felton was like a date

--

Which lyric from your latest album can you also use? pick up line to use?
“Who came up with these questions? I didn’t expect this,” he says, laughing. “But there is one line ‘men are idiots; you need to know’, that would be my pick up line are. It wouldn’t be a good one, but at least it’s fair.”

How would Draco Malfoy sell this album to the public?
“I don’t think Draco would necessarily make the same music I do, and I wouldn’t know what kind of music he would listen to. But if he ReD had to sell, there would be a lot of deceit involved.”

Since your album ReD name, does that mean you’re in Gryffindor now?
“No absolutely not. It will eventually become clear why the album ReD is called. I can’t tell you too much, not yet.”

What is the name of the Harry Potter-group chat? And what is the last message sent there?
“What do we call ourselves again? I think it’s called chat Potterheads with a lightning bolt behind it. I think I added that lightning. And the last message was probably a congratulations to someone, for example to the ‘Weasley’ twins who just did a television show and are traveling around the world with it. I think it was something like that.”

Text continues below the photo.

Considering your history with white-blonde hair and your singing career, why weren’t you cast as Ken in Barbie?
“I was too expensive. Just kidding. The right man has been cast for that role. I love Ryan Gosling.” Here the conversation very briefly turned into an ode to Ryan from both of us, with Tom eventually saying: “We’re both still thinking about Ryan Gosling, aren’t we? Stop thinking about Ryan Gosling!”

You rose to fame during your ‘bad boy’ era; what would you call this era of your life?
“My peace-love-harmony and sweetness-era. The opposite of Draco Malfoy – although I’m still a bit mischievous. Someone said I have one Slyther dore used to be. So there’s still some Slytherin in there, but with a good heart.”

Would you rather never see Muggles again or never make music again?
“I can’t answer that question. Muggles don’t exist, we are all magical in our own way. And I will never stop making music.”

Will your father hear about this interview?
Abso-bloody-lutely.”

Photo shoot

The date – I mean the interview – ended with a kiss on my cheek and a photo shoot by our own Tom Cornelissen. And I can tell you: I’m still on a big one Harry Potter-cloud.
