Harvey Weinstein (72) admitted to hospital: “On a physical level he is a wreck”

Convicted American film producer Harvey Weinstein (72) has been hospitalized in New York. According to his lawyer, he is not doing too well. “He is a wreck health-wise.”

Before he goes back to Rikers Island jail next week, Weinstein was hospitalized for some thorough examinations. These are necessary, because the 72-year-old film producer has been struggling with sleeping problems, diabetes and heart problems since the metoo case broke out. According to his lawyer Arthur Aidala, he is not doing too well. “He needs a lot of help physically,” he said on Saturday. “He has a lot of problems and therefore has to undergo many tests. Actually, he’s a wreck health-wise.” According to the man, there is no problem mentally.

It was an eventful week for Weinstein. The appeals court in New York ruled that his sentence of 23 years in prison for sexual abuse would be overturned, because the film producer would not have received a fair trial. The court said it made that decision because women came to testify about facts for which he was not prosecuted. That would have made a fair trial impossible.

This means that Weinstein will not be released. He was also sentenced in California to 16 years in prison. He must serve that sentence.
