Two people were injured in a spectacular accident on Ringlaan in Merksem on Monday night. The accident also resulted in extensive material damage and four damaged vehicles.

The accident occurred around 3:30 am. The driver of a red car driving on the Ringlaan in the direction of the Bredabaan lost control for an unclear reason near road works. The car then rammed a signal car and got part of the signal signs on the hood.

More than 50 meters further, the car then collided with a parked white car on the right of the track. He in turn was pushed into the windshield of a BMW and ended up under that vehicle. The BMW was then pushed against a pole again.

The red car dug deep into the white car, but miraculously the two occupants were able to get out themselves. They were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The fire brigade was busy clearing the road and cleaning up the leaked oil. Then all vehicles had to be towed. The roadway was closed the entire time.
