Dodi Lukebakio made a good comeback for Sevilla after his injury. Yet he was not always confident that everything would work out in time.

Dodi Lukebakio has only made nine starts in La Liga so far due to a ligament injury he suffered in December that kept him out until mid-March.

At one point he even thought that his participation in the European Championships was in danger: “I thought about it, a lot of things were going through my head because I had never experienced serious injuries,” he told Eleven DAZN.

“I had the feeling that something snapped. While walking I already felt that it was strange, it seemed serious. Of course you think about all this when you enter the dressing room.”

In the end, Lukebakio is completely fine again and is back on the field, well before the start of the European Championship. “Thank God no surgery was needed, it was less serious than I thought.”

Yet this break came at a bad time: “I started to feel good. We were in a very difficult period, I really wanted to help the team. I was very sad and I called my wife; ‘Why now?’

“I asked myself a lot of questions, but I am a very religious person. I was able to be positive very quickly, I knew that there is a reason for everything. I experienced this injury in peace. I thought it would help me to save time to spend with my family, to realize that every day is important.”
