Borgerhout

The twelfth edition of the Giant Run took place on Sunday. 2,000 athletes ran a running race of five or ten kilometers. They passed, among others, the Stuivenberg Hospital, De Roma or a Turkish mosque. Afterparty ‘KrugerKnal’ was the icing on the cake.

As usual, sports enthusiasts braved five or ten kilometers through Borgerhout and Antwerp North during the free Giant Run. This edition almost 2,000 people participated. That is twice as many as last year. They passed the Turkish mosque in Everaertsstraat for the first time.

Real racing enthusiasts who only wanted to win were in the wrong place at the Giant Run. ‘The nicest run in the city’ is a fun run where fun and enjoyment come first. There was also the ‘Kinnebaba kids run’ and the ‘Dolfijn kids run’ for children between 7 and 10 years old and children from 4 to 6 years old.

Runners and walkers started and finished at Krugerplein, where effort immediately gave way to relaxation. The square was the setting for ‘Krugerknal’, a large-scale neighborhood party organized by Kras Borgerhout, Mobadara and the local catering industry. The pictures of DJ Ramos, Jonas Lion and Tegelbreker created the atmosphere. Tasty snacks and fresh drinks did the rest.
