Get tattooed by your favorite artist this weekend during Antwerp Tattoo Convention (Antwerp)

Antwerp Expo is the place to be this weekend for everyone who loves tattoos. The Antwerp Tattoo Convention is being organized for the 22nd time, with artists from home and abroad.

About one hundred and forty tattoo artists, both local and international, will be present at Antwerp Expo this weekend. “We receive tattoo artists from all over Europe,” says Filip Roosendans from the organization behind the event. “Greeks, Romanians, Albanians,… We can welcome someone from almost every country. Many Eastern European artists are exceptionally good. The art courses there are excellent.”

Anyone who wants can get a tattoo or piercing at Antwerp Expo. “There is usually no time for huge tattoos,” says Filip, “but you can certainly have something done by the artist that appeals to you most. Because we have been involved with the Antwerp Tattoo Convention for so long, we have quite a few good contacts and can bring international top artists to Antwerp. Many foreign artists like to come to the city.”

And the visitors also always find their way to the event, Filip knows. “We usually welcome between 1,500 and 2,000 people. There is a lot to experience, not just the art of tattooing. There are also stilt walkers and dancers, there is food and drinks. And you can buy jewelry and clothing while listening to one of our DJs.”

The tattoo artists can also take home a prize. “Our professional jury chooses the best tattoos,” says Filip. “And that in different categories: black and white, color, realism,… By the way, that trophy looks great in their tattoo shop. An award from the Antwerp Tattoo Convention is a bit like a calling card.”
