Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a random passerby from the street for a nice conversation. Because everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Willem Brebels (57).
“Love brought me to Antwerp seven years ago. After 48 years, a new world has opened up for me. In the past, homosexuality was not discussed, but after coming out I changed completely. I am much happier now and that is largely thanks to my great job.”
“I have been a model for students and artists in art academies for eight years. Artists all over Belgium draw me, and then I am naked or clothed. To me, modeling means that you convey something from your heart to the artist.”
“When I moved to Antwerp, I put myself first for the first time in my life. So they can’t get me out of here anymore. On my days off I like to walk along the Scheldt. But I also go to the gym, spin or do body pumping or yoga. If I’m a little nervous, I’ll exercise for an hour. Afterwards I am completely calm again.”
“Today I am a very happy man. There are always hard times, but I don’t stay in a corner. I’m fully committed to life.”
