Air France-KLM opens new ‘terminal’ in Brussels

--

Yesterday, Air France-KLM put the renovated Air&Rail Terminal at Brussels South station into use.

The Air&Rail Terminal is equipped with a lounge for travelers. In the terminal, which was opened by Marjan Rintel, CEO of KLM, Pieter Jan Kleiweg de Zwaan, Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the EU and François Sénémaud, French Ambassador to Belgium, travelers can wait for the train, Eurostar and/or TGV INOUI, to Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle. ‘We are proud of our continuous investment in the Air&Rail product. We remain fully committed to a smooth customer journey, making the train an increasingly better alternative to short-haul flights within Europe,” said Marjan Rintel, CEO of KLM, in a statement.

Air&Rail

The Air&Rail concept focuses on (further) cooperation between the train and the plane. With a single booking, the train journey to Dutch and French airports is combined with a flight. KLM travelers who board at that first airport can check in online for their entire journey 30 hours in advance. Customers can check in on location 30 minutes before departure. Flying Blue members have the opportunity to earn Miles, receive priority check-in and access to the Eurostar Lounge at Brussels South Station.

High-speed trains

Since its introduction in 2001, the offer concerns more than 4,500,000 seats on 93,000 high-speed trains between the Netherlands, Belgium and France. “We work closely with our partners to optimize the Air&Rail offering for our customers, who can choose from more than 300 destinations worldwide via Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Schiphol,” says Rintel. The intention is to introduce a seventh daily high-speed service on the route between Brussels South and Paris Charles de Gaulle next summer.
